While all of the trackwork, ballasting and associated electrics are complete there is still plenty of scope and opportunity for members to turn their hand to modelling signals, lineside buildings, scenery and the like. One of our members can only be described as a 'Wizard' with his design skill and knowledge of 3D printing. He is responsible for the excellent bridge sides, design and production and is currently working on the glazing infill panels to the overall station roof. We are also working on the scenery at the back of the layout. This involves the construction of a removal seventeen foot long tunnel which would prototypically be constructed as cut and cover. Consideration is also being given to the type, position and method of operation of signalling.

Witty Banter overall station roof
Layouts
NameDescriptionPortable
Witty BanterBased on circa 1950s Eastern Region, 'Witty Banter' is a large inverted figure of eight layout boasting up and down platform faces with the capacity for trains of ten carriages and two through running lines. The station, built on a curve, has an overall glazed roof with an uncanny resemblance to that at York. There are two bay platforms on the down side of the station. Both also have access to the MPD while the longer of the two can be used to load stock during running sessions. The sizeable MPD has a large two road engine shed with access to the 70' turntable. To the side of the MPD are carriage sidings to facilitate running round prior to turning locomotives.
