Lynley Dock

Lynley Dock is imagined to be one of a small dock or quay set within one of the large dock complexes to be found in the North West of England. Inspiration was taken from the Manchester Ship Canal and Liverpool & Birkenhead areas. As with all layouts available space dictated the 'small dock' scenario.

The period was originally set as 1946 to 1948 but I have just expanded that to 1950 to enable me to model a few of the newly painted 'B.R.' liveried wagons. This small area was fortunate in that it escaped the majority of the bombing during World War 2. Within this small area is a 'Graving Dock' (dry dock) and the engineering facilities for extensive repairs along with a few warehouses for import and export of goods.

Lynley Dock gives access to Baltic Quay (not portrayed as its basically the hidden sidings) which handles exports such as large pipe, machinery and cable whilst most of the import is timber. All wagon loads have been made removable in order to show the loaded and empty wagon movements. A small local loco depot has also been modelled primarily to keep my fleet of locos.
